Fucking Cruel
by John B. Burroughs, 2008

Cruel fucking fate
Cursed to be loved
To be lusted
Busted
And one day rusted

You still love me
Long as you remain above me
Keeping me in line
Cleaning house
Swilling swine
Pretending
Parading as your yard bitch
House chigger
Sperm sandwich

How’d you figure?

I’m a cruel fucking fate
Giving you what you don’t want
Pained poetry
Infidelity
Rank righteousness
Neuroses
Every personality from
Moses to Rameses

Cruel fucking fate
Only cruel because you choose it

When you one day
Find you’re free
To lose it
You’ll still call it cruel
Still call me a fool
Insist you were my tool
When I was just as much yours
Performing all the chores
Suffering all the bores
Who bore into you while I
Bore more literal chains
And quietly raged
In an understated cage

Fucking pains
Fucking cruel fucked fate
And I relate
Only cruel because I choose it

I’m afraid that I’ll lose it
Sometimes rather just refuse it
Blues and booze it
Even abuse it
Loose it from its rusty lusty cage
But then keep it on a leash
Like you like to keep me
In this dog gone bone dry matrimony
For some dreadful
Beastly
Phony eternity
And without revisions

Love with conditions
Cruel faux fucking freedom
Fuck off
